On Sunday, 24 March 2013 approximately 1200 people arrived with their tail wagging friends at D’Aria Wine Estate in Durbanville to partake in the annual Woefie Wandel. There was approximately 971 dogs who participated in the Woefie Wandel and was taken on a beautiful scenic walk by their owners and families. The SPCA organised the annual event in order to raise funds against Animal Cruelty and together with generous sponsorships from PURINA and MySchool/MyPlanet, they raised an astounding R176 000 for the Cape of Good Hope (CoGH) SPCA.
There were families from all sizes with all kinds of dogs of all sizes and breeds. The Woefie Wandel is a wonderful day out for families and dog lovers and the dogs love this outing just as much. There was two distances, a 2km walk for families with prams, small children and elderly dogs and then the 4km walk with a beautiful scenic route through the Wine lands.
It is such a great cause and after the walk, many people stayed on to enjoy wine and delicious eats while their dogs cooled off in the numerous water baths specially provided for the delight of the furry participants.
All owners and dogs had such a great time and what a great cause to get your dog out of the house and to walk along with many others. Definitely a worthy cause to support.
Below you will see multiple dogs, big dogs, dressed up dogs and really dogs to suit every family!
